Pokemon Indigo League Readathon TBR

After putting it off all summer, I found the perfect way to begin my book blog! Aentee (@readatmidnight) 's Pokemon Indigo League Read-A-Thon. Eight books in three weeks, with a review for each of them. I figured it's best to go all in, so without further ado...

The Pokemon Indigo League #ReadThemAllThon is a 3 weeks long reading challenge based on the Kanto’s Indigo League. Long-time fans of the series would recognise this as the first set of gyms Ash Ketchum had to conquer in his quest to become the Pokemon Master. Now you, my friends, will also embark on a journey to become the very best. Instead of fighting gym battles, you’ll be reading books instead!

The read-a-thon will run for 3 weeks between Sunday 14th August to Sunday 4th September.
You can sign up anytime between now and the end of the read-a-thon.
One of the really cool parts about this readathon is that you get to play as a trainer with a pokemon, evolving and leveling them up as you finish books. For more information check out Aedee's post here. For this challenge I choose Shinx!

CP 225

Trainer: Sara/Ravenquil

Blog: Ravens and Reads

Type: Electric

Evolution: 3 Stage

I tend to be a sucker for electric and fire pokemon and here is no exception! I chose Shinx partially due to its 3 stage evolution which will be helpful in the read-a-thon and partly because Shinx is just too darn cute to pass up! Training won't be easy though and Shinx will have to put in some hard work with the books I have chosen!

I wanted to choose a series that
had just started so I wouldn't be wanting to read the next one right after. Since The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi, won't be getting it's sequel until next year it was the perfect candidate. I have heard wonderful things about this series and am so excited for it to be the first book in this challenge!

342 pages, potential +34CP

I usually try to avoid books that
might make me cry, so it was a bit hard to find a book on my shelves for the second badge. I received Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow at BookCon and have heard so many fabulous things about it. I hope I won't cry, but I wouldn't put it past this powerful, and beautifully crafted book.

416 pages, potential +41CP

If I wasn't already reading it I would have saved This Savage Song for this challenge, but alas I am almost finished with it. Instead I chose another of the next most talked about series A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. Not quite sure what to expect from this one, but if it is anything like This Savage Song then I'm sure I will love it!

400 pages, potential +40CP

I started off the summer by reading The Mortal Instruments, but have been taking a break from the rest of Clare's writing since I read all six back to back. The diversity of the series amazed me, and I instantly thought of The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare when I saw the prompt. What a better way to return to the world of Shadowhunters than with my favorite character Magnus, the Indonesian bisexual warlock of Manhattan.
507 pages, potential +50CP

I discovered Neil Gaiman several years ago through his book The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Since then I have read American Gods and Good Omens, as well as watched Stardust. Stardust by Neil Gaiman has been on my TBR list for a long time, and the epic romance that makes up the story made it perfect for this challenge! I look forward to getting to read Gaiman's writing again.

333 pages, potential +33CP

A large majority of my library is made up of fantasy, so this was a little harder to choose, but I've been eager to The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey for a while now, and its stunning cover keeps drawing me back. I can't wait to see what kind of magical story it holds!

357 pages, potential +35CP

I've had The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater since it was released in 2011. I attempted to read it multiple times but could never finish it, but I've held onto it all these years. I've been meaning to try again, and with its rust red cover, this was a great opportunity. I hope the past years of reading experience will allow me to enjoy details of this book that I had been unable to in the past.
409 pages, potential +40CP

I discovered the Reckoner's trilogy several years ago and fell in love with a world where humans became super powered, and with those powers they became villains, every last one of them. I found that I loved the second book Firefight even more that Steelheart, and I hope the series continues in the trend, with Calamity by Brandon Sanderson being the best yet! We will have to wait and see.

421 pages, potential +42CP

If I finish all eight books, and post a review for each book I have the potential to gain +635CP not including evolution bonuses etc. I hope you will join me on this journey to read them all!
